Breathwork is the practice of consciously connecting with our breath. According to journalist and author of Breath, James Nestor
"Modern humans are the worst breathers in the animal kingdom"
As a child I had severe asthma, experienced lung collapse and was under the care of respiratory specialists at Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital. I had to learn to breathe again. My first exposure to Breathwork was with Konstantin Buteyko, who famously helped asthmatics to breathe better. Later, I realised the relationship between trauma, the nervous system and dysfunctional breathing and began the first of many trainings acquiring many different techniques from very gentle practices that calm the system to very activating practices which can induce strong physical and emotional responses and help us release stress and trauma held in the body.

Breathwork helps me to get grounded on a daily basis and has enabled me to release so much I didn’t even know I was holding! I’d love the whole world to know about Breathwork and have the opportunity to try it

Breathwork gives us the opportunity to connect with our bodies and emotions in a really powerful way, to open up to and release things that may be held inside. It can also be restorative, settling and regulating for a nervous system depending on how you breathe. I’m open to all of it and my primary intention is to create spaces that feel inviting and containing for you to go wherever you need.

Each week I run online group sessions in Coherent Breathing, a practice to help you slow down and find more peace in your body, and Conscious Connected sessions, a more activating practice to music, to help you connect with and release emotions held in the body.

"I can't speak highly enough of Sophie's talent - a dedicated, astute and intimately caring practitioner to guide you through breathwork-based healing. She has years of banked experience in trauma reintegration, spoken word coaching and somatic therapy. As much a student as anyone she coaches, this devoted attitude to service makes her a safe, humble and deeply-attuned facilitator. As a coach myself, one who leads high-level groups through deeply immersive experiences, I knew very early on that I could trust Sophie with supporting our trainings"
