Breastfeeding Issues, Teething & Massage Wax
|
|
Feeding has been a big issue in my classes recently, so I am going to pass on two recommendations for feeding specialists. Geraldine Miskin has been very successful for one of my Mums - she has a good website, www.letsbreastfeed.com - worth checking out. Alternatively I found Clare Byam-Cook's book - "What to expect if you are breastfeeding ... And what if you can't" very useful. Another recommendation is for a herbal supplement called Phytolact which boosts milk production and quality - I can't vouch for it personally, but one of my Mums has found it very beneficial. If you are interested then go to herbalist Melanie Frankland's website www.phytosphere.co.uk Another thing we encountered this month was a baby with an allergy to silicone teats - virtually unheard of (latex yes, but silicone no) - now that a Health Visitor has identified the allergy he is a much happier baby who is giving his parents a little bit more sleep! Teething has also been a popular subject - we all know about teething granules, teething rings and calpol, but another thing to investigate is amber teething necklaces - a friend of mine swore by them with all three of her sons and if you go to www.mamageo.com you will find out more. Apparently amber has very calming and healing properties. For those of you who did a course with me a while ago you may not have been introduced to Tui Waxes, which I now use all the time, instead of organic vegetable oils for massage. A very good barrier wax (instead of Sudocrem etc) it is fabulous for massage as "you don't feel as if you are basting a turkey"!!! The Bee Balme contains organic olive oil, beeswax, propolis and Vitamin E, so very pure and healing. The company who supply it are very dippy, hippy Kiwis and are slowly introducing it to the health food shops of the country, but if you want to ensure getting hold of some then contact me and I'll order you some - I generally have quite a stock of it as I now give each person who comes to my course a pot. There are various sizes - the 100ml pot costs £7.99 and the 300ml £18.99 (but I sell them for £7 and £17.50 respectively). If you want to find out more about it go to www.songbirdnaturals.co.uk That's it for now folks! |
